About Me
My name is Jamie Lee Pates and I'm a web designer from Gloucester in the United Kingdom. I'm currently in my second year at college studying web development at the Gloucestershire College. Once I finish my course I plan to go to Plymouth University to study Digital Art and Technology so I can further myself in this line of work. I'm a quiet person who tends to spend a lot of his time on the computer, this has helped me as I have had the time to learn what is needed to create my websites.
I started off editing images in Photoshop and that led me into web design. This meant I could use these images and bring them together to make something better. I started learning the languages and and practising my work until I eventually became confident enough to create this portfolio website to showcase my designs.
What I Do
As of now I create and develop web based projects either for my own personal use, educational purposes or for clients that are interested in my talents. I use such scripting languages as HTML, CSS and PHP in my work along with many other tools. I currently develop these projects using the Creative Suite bundles avalible from Adobe which I am quite fond of.
How I Do It
When developing web projects I firstly plan my idea and map it out on paper with information on colours schemes, layout and content information. Then I will make a wire frame design so I can get an idea of what it will look like. Once I'm happy with the wireframe design I will move on to a full high quality coloured design. I will then go into stages of tweeking this until I am pleased with how it looks. Once I am happy with this I will develop it dreamweaver using HTML and CSS so it can be viewed as a webpage. I will then use the same way to add additional pages to the project. Once I have created all of the pages I will test all of the parts and modify them appropriately. Once I have done this I will present my work.
